Make sure you reach the border which is around 220 KM from Bangalore before 9 PM as the road through the wildlife sanctuary will remain closed between 9PM and 6 AM.

The journey from Gundalpet to Bathery will be a memorable one as you passes through Bandipur and Wayanad national parks. Don’t surprise if you are stopped by a naughty Tusker.

If you plan to travel by bus, there are many number of buses starting from Satellite stand in Mysore road. Kerala RTC buses are available every hour from 6 AM to 4 PM and then from 11PM to 12 Midnight.

There is no train service to Wayanad, the nearest railway station is Mysore which is 110 KM away from Bathery and Kozhikode which is around 70 KM from Kalpetta.

Taxi’s are easily available at Bathery and you need one to visit all the places inWayanad, as public transport to the tourist spots are poor.

All types of taxis are available but Jeep is one of the most used and available transport and is also the cheapest one. This is the better vehicle which can take you easily to the places like Edakkal cave and deep into the forest

You can stay at Bathery or at Kalpetta which is 25 KM from Bathery on the NH 213 route. There are a number of good hotels to stay and also resorts and home stays.

There is no town in the name of Wayanad, rather it consists of three main towns, Sulthan Bathery, Kalpetta and Manathavady.
